Metalwork & welding
Cerrajería · SoldaduraRailings, stairs, gates, canopies, grilles. Steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Designed, welded, coated, installed.

Metalwork, glazing and everything else around the house, carried out by a German master metalworker on the Costa Blanca. Fixed appointments, clear prices, clean work.
Instead of coordinating five trades, you make one call. From a welded railing to a new terrace enclosure. GEMS handles what needs doing. We give the Spanish term too: useful when you talk to neighbours, the town hall or a supplier.
Railings, stairs, gates, canopies, grilles. Steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Designed, welded, coated, installed.
Enclosing terraces, replacing windows and doors. A draughty terrace becomes a room you can use all year.
Fixed frames, sliding and roller screens for windows and doors. Made to measure, so you can leave the light on in the evening.
Repairing or replacing shutters, fitting awnings and canopies. Motorised too, when the crank has had enough.
Walls, openings, repairs, rendering inside and out. Including the small jobs nobody else turns up for.
Bathrooms, terraces, stairs and pool surrounds. Newly laid or restored, with clean joints and a fall that actually works.
Façades, interiors, metal coatings. Preparation included, so the paint survives the next summer.
Finding and fixing burst pipes, new runs, cisterns and pumps. Including digging it open and closing it up afterwards.
With our own mini digger: trenches, foundations, cisterns, clearing plots. Including where a full-size machine cannot reach.
Weeding, cutting back, paths, irrigation. Also on a regular basis for owners who are not here all year.
Wood made to measure: doors, fitted units, decking, furniture. Combined with steel if you like. That is our speciality.
Sealing, re-tiling, renewing fittings and surrounds. From an empty shell back to the first dive.
Before GEMS looked after whole houses on the Costa Blanca, it built stairs, railings and façades in Germany: for new builds, apartment blocks and commercial projects. That standard goes into every railing fitted here.
Every railing and stair is engineered before the first cut: bearings, loads, fixings into existing structure. That is why it fits on installation day and still does not wobble in ten years.
Old buildings are never square. We measure on site, build in the workshop and adjust on installation. Catalogue parts help nobody here.
Five kilometres from the sea, the material decides the lifespan. Stainless, hot-dip galvanised or powder-coated. Chosen for the location, not for the lowest quote.
A ground weld seam is the difference between a component and craftsmanship. Edges deburred, transitions clean, surfaces even, including where nobody looks.
Installation happens on the agreed day, with our own tools and our own van. The site is left swept. That is part of the job too.
The shell leaked, the tiles were coming off, the plant was finished. Six weeks later: resealed, completely re-tiled, fittings and surround replaced. Drag the slider.

March · beforeApril · afterSix weeks and one completely stripped shell lie between these two photographs. Carried out throughout by our own crew, no subcontractor, no standstill.
A cross-section of recent years, apartments in Alicante, villas inland, holiday homes on the coast.

Open terrace closed with sliding aluminium units, base tiled and rendered. Usable in January and in an easterly wind.

Entire window front replaced, in an occupied flat, in stages, with a crane in the street. By evening the flat was watertight again.

Trench through the olive grove, cistern set, line laid and everything closed up. With our own mini digger, no subcontractor.

Tiling, plumbing, window and connections from one hand. One contact instead of five tradesmen with five appointments.

Measured on site, built in the workshop, powder-coated, installed. Nothing off the shelf, everything to size.

Frameless sliding glazing across the full width. Open in summer, closed in winter, and the view survives both.
Chain links, bolts and old olive wood become one-off pieces, seating, bowls, sculptures. Made to your idea on request.

A mount for a punchbag, built from what was left over after other jobs. Tim films his work himself and shows how a piece like this comes together.
The video only loads once you start it. Nothing is sent to YouTube before that.
A German master metalworker, at home on the Costa Blanca for years, and reachable where his clients live.
Anyone who owns a house here knows the problem: you find someone, and he might turn up. Or he turns up, speaks neither German nor English, and what ends up on the invoice was never discussed. GEMS does it differently, date, price and scope are agreed beforehand, in your language, and then the work gets done.
Tim passed the master craftsman examination in metalwork before the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts in 2013. Spain has no equivalent to this qualification, in the European Qualifications Framework it sits at level 6, the same tier as a bachelor’s degree. For you it mainly means this: structural design, choice of material and workmanship come from someone who was taught and examined in them.
The craft at the core is metalwork. Everything else follows from the fact that a house rarely needs just one thing: whoever fits the railing can also build the base, glaze the terrace and dig the trench. For larger jobs, trusted subcontractors join in, the responsibility stays with GEMS.
Working for private owners, holiday-home owners and property managers, in German, English and Spanish.
